What causes panic attacks?

One always wonders what causes panic attacks. There are several reasons for these attacks. In simple words the part of the brain which is responsible for handling tense situations wrongly triggers the body to respond to a normal situation as if it were an emergency. This results in increased heartbeat, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness and losing control of the body. All these symptoms point towards a panic attack. There are situations where one cannot relax leading to grave consequences.

Scientifically speaking the reason for panic attack is the malfunctioning of the amygdale our emotional brain. This part of brain is responsible for dealing with emergencies and emotions. It wrongly poses a picture of emergency when there is indeed no necessity of it in reality. This reaction of over sensitivity to a normal situation leads to anxiety and this is what causes panic attacks.

Sometimes, improper sleep timings also lead to panic attacks. In few cases even irritable bowel or uncontrollable diarrhea can lead to panic attacks. People having heart problems have a high chance of getting a panic attack. Often a panic attack is confused with a heart attack. The specific reason for a panic attack can be hard to find but speaking broadly anxiety leads to panic attacks. Panic attacks are quite common among the people who deal with pressure from work constantly. However, any kind of pressure can be the cause of panic attacks.

There are a lot of physical and psychological causes for these attacks. For this reason, it is advised that one has to go through both physical and psychological tests so that they can know what causes panic attacks in them.
